Meet Sai Aye
Sai Aye is a Burmese refugee living in the United States. Born along the Burmese-Thai border, Sai Aye spent her first ten years moving from village to village with her family to find safety, food and shelter. Her parents had fled their ancestral home years earlier to escape the Burmese military regime.
They found security in a refugee camp and when she was old enough Sai Aye registered with the UNHCR. In 2011, after 11 years in the camp, she was given the opportunity to build a new life in the United States. Sai Aye is joyfully creating a brighter future for her daughter after joining Prosperity and earning a living as a candle-maker. She hopes someday to visit her parents and siblings who are still in the refugee camp.
